Latest time you can teach a baby to latch on?
My baby is 7 weeks old and he has been taking a bottle. I pump and bottle. Is it too late to teach him to latch on?
What is the latest people have taught a baby to latch on?
It is absolutely not too late! I actually stopped breast feeding at two weeks and decided to try and relactate when he was about three months. When he was a newborn he would not latch. I tried getting him latched at three months with the help of a lactation consultant and he now latches and nurses like a champ.
Call a Le Leche League volunteer, find a certified lactation consultant or join a breastfeeding support group at your hospital. If you have help you will be able to do it!
FYI: I did the pumping and feeding thing in the beginning. It is so much easier when you can feed at the breast.
