Canopy Bed Covers
The history of the canopy bed dates back to the Nomadic Age, when a tent was used as a home. Tents were built a little differently in those days. They were made by hammering four tall poles deep, into the ground, and covering the center with a sturdy cloth fabric. This fabric was attached to all four poles, and secured to provide an overhead cover. A bed was, then constructed out of straw, or palm leaves, and placed under the tent. This kind of overhead covering is now called a canopy. The tent, as it was called in the Nomadic Age, served multiple purposes. It was used as a bedroom, kitchen, and a general living area.
Today, there are absolutely amazing canopy beds. These beds range from twin size to king plus sizes. Canopy bed covers is what truly brings these beds to life. There was a time, when it was difficult to find canopy bed covers that fit a particular style, or size of the bed. Now, there is a wide variety of intricate patterns, designs, and sizes, of which to choose. The quality is excellent, and it is sometimes, hard to make a decision because of the vast selection of styles and fabrics that are available to choose from.
The designs can go from traditional, with an arch, to regular flat canopy top covers. The style and fabric of the canopy bed covers can be purchased in numerous patterns like: ruffles, lace, mesh, silk, cotton, crush velvet, sheer fabric, floral print designs, strips, soft colors to bold colors. Most of the bedding fabrics and materials are very durable, and made to be machine washable. This is a definite plus, because professionally cleaning this type of bedding can be very costly and also very time consuming.
Shopping for canopy bed covers can be great fun. There is the task of first finding the right type of durable cover. Next, finding the one that is most appealing, and not too expensive. Lastly, coordinating the entire bed, so that everything matches and looks fabulous. It is a good idea to change the bedding, regularly, and also according to the season. This way, a heavier fabric would be most useful in the winter; a lighter fabric would work better in the spring and summer seasons. The shopping could be done, in the store, online, or through a catalog purchase. Whatever way its done, the end results will be well worth the time spent shopping, and deciding what selection is best.
